Breakout rooms toolkit

Created by students, led by Kesta Kemp (Student Digital Champion) in collaboration with the Digital Education Office (DEO), this resource looks at building relationships and facilitating serendipitous interactions. The toolkit looks at students motivations and worries and suggests ways to make breakout rooms a positive learning experience for our students.

Reading the Zoom Room: re-setting wonky learning vibes

In this blog post, BILT Research Associate Isabel Hopwood looks at how non-verbal immediacy impacts on students learning experiences and provides some useful suggestions to improve the online vibe.

Critical Pedagogy and Decolonising the Curriculum – Wednesday 10th March, 1pm

Hosted by the School of Biological and Environmental Sciences at Liverpool John Moores University, this seminar series explores decolonising the science curriculum. ‘Micro-credentials, scalable education and the codification of knowledge’ – Tuesday 16th March, 6pm – 7:15pm

Hosted by the University of Bath – Institute for Policy Research (IPR). This unique event provides the opportunity to see Dr Michael Richey, Chief Learning Scientist at The Boeing Company, in-conversation with Professor Tim Ibell, Professor of Structural Engineering at the University of Bath. They will discuss how ‘knowledge is an emergent social phenomenon’, with a focus on micro-credentials, scalable education, and the codification of knowledge.

The event will take place on Zoom, and is available to all. Attendees can register via the Event’s page. Joining instructions will be sent before the webinar starts. You do not have to have an account to access the webinar, and it can be viewed via your internet browser.
