Recruiting Student Fellows
We are currently looking to recruit four, part-time (approx 1 day a week) BILT Student Fellows to join the team. This year’s projects will focus on:
- Building inclusive online communities
- Assessment and feedback
- Students as researchers
- Decolonisation

Resources
New resources for blended and online teaching and learning
We’ve added a new section to our ‘Information for Staff’ Resources page. The items in the ‘Interaction and discussion in Covid-secure rooms’ section include ideas and resources to support staff in developing online and blended teaching. Areas covered include; activities and techniques to support in-class interactions, writing and pair work tasks, using digital tools to support in-class interactions and creating lasting outputs from on-campus sessions.
Embedding wellbeing article
We are delighted to confirm that BILT Discretionary Seedcorn Funding holders – Fabienne Vailes and Stéphanie Demont have had an article published about their research on ’embedding wellbeing in the curriculum’. Blended Learning and Teaching: into the brave new world, 12th – 23rd October
This completely asynchronous course, focused on blended teaching has been specifically designed for hourly paid staff contracted to work as Demonstrators, Teaching Support Assistants and Assistant Teachers The programme will support you in your roles as we face the challenges of a new learning and teaching environment. It will run from Monday 12th October – Friday 23rd October, visit Eventbrite for more details and to register.
Engaged Learning Community Meeting – Wednesday 4th November, 12pm – 1pm
Over the summer the Engaged Learning team has worked on pulling together the underpinning values of the Engaged Learning Community, researched Engaged Learning opportunities running at other universities, developed a toolkit and explored how Engaged Learning opportunities can continue given the current COVID-19 crisis.
This event, open to all staff, provides an opportunity for the Engaged Learning values and toolkits to be shared, attendees will also be involved in deciding what the Community focuses on in 20/21. To find out more about the community and to receive the meeting link please email Hannah Tweddell.
Bristol Futures – open online courses
These online courses, hosted on FutureLearn, are a great way for students, staff and alumni to develop essential skills and attributes and to learn about the three Bristol Futures themes – Innovation and Enterprise, Global Citizenship and Sustainable Futures. Courses start on Monday 19th October, find out more and sign-up to the courses through the ‘Open online courses’ webpage.
