[Andy is] highly innovative when it comes to delivery, engaging the students via debates, inspiring hands-on practicals, and curiosity driven field courses.
[Andy’s] teaching supports students in design and implementation of a practical project where they take their first steps into independent research. It has inspired many students to pursue an interest in plant science in third- and fourth- year practical projects, and to embark on postgraduate research degrees at Bristol and elsewhere, extending the reach of the University.
Andy loves chatting to students. He will always talk with undergraduates and offer suggestions on their research projects, even when they are not his students. He is genuinely interested in the outcomes of their projects, and will attend their presentations to see their results, which students really value.
