They find engaging and interesting ways to teach us about the issues faced by different marginalised groups when accessing healthcare, and they put a lot of work into centralising and prioritising the voices of those people. They’ve organised conference days for us where we hear from different community groups and organisations who speak to us very openly about the issues which affect their community, such as ableism, racism, transphobia, and homophobia. I think this is so valuable for all (future) healthcare workers to hear, to better learn how to support all their patients and understand the societal context that health issues exist within.
