Call for Contributions: BILT Annual Conference
Building community and belonging in a challenging and changing world
Wednesday 12th July 2023. In-person, at the Bill Brown Suite, Queens Building, Woodland Road.
This conference will explore the role of community and belonging in creating what Bell Hooks calls “the best climate for learning”. It will examine various themes such as inclusivity, interdisciplinarity, embedded authentic pedagogies, connection with the environment and with local and global communities. We are delighted to welcome contributions from staff across the University of Bristol. Application deadline Monday 6th March, 2023 at 9am.

Since September 2020 the Professional Liaison Network’s (PLN) Bristol Model programme has enabled 41 students to work as Research Assistants across seven Social Science projects with partners in the city region.. A team based in the Faculty’s School of Education have been working to evaluate the Bristol Model, analysing and evidencing the direct benefits of this activity on students and external partner organisations, with a strong focus on reducing barriers to entry for students from widening participation backgrounds. To share learnings from the evaluation team and celebrate the success of the Bristol Model, the PLN are running a half-day event exploring this ‘student as researcher’ model of knowledge exchange.
