Introduction to HE teaching at Bristol programme
Is proving to be a very popular course with over 400 enrolled on Blackboard and up to 100 attendees to the various online and face-to-face workshops. The programme is designed for those new to teaching/and or supporting learning. Providing the skills and knowledge to plan learning and teaching for flexible and blended learning. Missed out? Don’t worry we are offering the asynchronous activities and will be running the programme again in January for teaching block 2, enrolment is now open.

New Opportunities
Show, Tell and Talk – Developing a sense of belonging with 1st year students
Wednesday 26th October, 1pm – 2:30pm. Wills Memorial Building, Old Council Chambers. Open to staff and students.
The first workshop our new series Show, Tell and Talk, will demonstrate very different examples of how a sense of belonging can be developed with incoming 1st year students. The session will be chaired by Professor Alvin Birdi (Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor for Education Innovation and Enhancement) and includes contributions from Dr. Steve Bullock (Associate Professor in Aerospace Engineering) and Angela Parry-Lowther (Senior Lecturer in the School of Management) there will be an opportunity for informal discussions in the final 30 minutes of the session.
Invitation to attend a Research Culture Café – Impactful Leadership
Wednesday 2nd November, 9:30 – 10:30am. Beacon House room 4.06, in-person event open to all staff, 25 places available.
We know that effective leadership is an important factor in creating a positive and inclusive research culture. We also know that anyone can show leadership, whatever their role, job title, or career stage.

IT training and learning opportunities
October 2022 – January 2023, Webinar and courses open to all staff and PGRs.
The IT Learning & Training team are running several training events related to Microsoft Office 365. They include:
- Excel Learning Pathway: support you to decide what skills you need to learn in Excel and link you directly to appropriate online materials. Book via Develop IT & Digital.
- Weekly drop-in clinics: bookable 1:1 30 minute online clinics with an IT trainer to with anything Office 365.
- Ad hoc training or consultancy requests for teams in faculties, schools, or divisions.

Responding to Student Feedback: A Guide for Staff
The guide is for all staff who engage with student feedback. It offers some practical steps and advice with a particular focus on feedback received as part of the unit evaluation process, most often using the Blue tool (Bristol Live Unit Evaluation).
