Sense of belonging and promoting good wellbeing through teaching and learning activities
We’re running a student hackathon in July and are looking for examples of practice in the University where a sense of belonging has been created through teaching and learning activities. Similarly, we’re also looking for examples of assessment or teaching activities that have promoted good wellbeing in students. If you think you’ve done anything that meets these criteria, please get in touch with Amy Palmer.
Showcase your research at the S.S. Great Britain and beyond at the 2022 FUTURES festival
FUTURES needs you! Researchers, research teams and postgraduate research students from all faculties are invited to showcase your research in this family-friendly festival. FUTURES is the largest showcase of cutting-edge research across the South West region with over 300 researchers participating in a range of public events that you can be part of. Activities include interactive, hands-on exhibits with schools and families, talks and poetry readings on the SSGB, conversations in pubs and cafes and MUCH more! The BILT annual conference will explore how in difficult times we can take hopeful and compassionate approaches to teaching and assessment for transformational learning, both in person and on-line. Show, Tell and Talk – Student centred framework for assessing programme’s Employability and Academic Skills (EAS), 29th June, 12pm – 1pm
In this online workshop an interactive tool for Employability and Academic Skills (EAS) will be demonstrated by Senior Lecturer Dr Hadi Abulrub (Mechanical Engineering). This tool aims to translate the University’s skills framework into a programme-specific skills matrix. We will also consider ways to integrate the tool into the students learning journey and engage them in self-assessment and reflection on their own development to better prepare them for their future career. ESD Staff Network Gathering: Political Perspectives on Education for Sustainability, Thursday 30th June, 12-2pm, Physics Building B16/17 ENDERBY (Access from Tyndall Avenue)
Vegetarian lunch provided
We will hear a set of short provocations and then begin a discussion: Should discipline-specific education for sustainability integrate political perspectives into it? How? Why? What messages should be given to the students? Is it the same for all disciplines, or will it vary?
We will then have food, and informal networking and conversations. We will also give a brief update on ESDN Events- including masters programme working groups and an Education for Sustainability ‘Award’ scheme for discipline programs.
