Bristol Teaching Awards shortlist now available!

We are so excited to be able to share the shortlist for this year’s Bristol Teaching Awards! The shortlist has been selected by panels of staff and students and narrowed down from 900 nominations to 41 individuals and teams! BILT Summer Hackathon – exciting paid opportunity for students!

This 4-day hackathon event taking place on Monday 25th – Thursday 28th July from 10am – 4pm, provides a unique opportunity for students to provide feedback, input and suggestions on how the University creates a sense of belonging and nurtures student wellbeing through teaching and assessment. The hackathon will explore how teaching, learning and assessment practices can be designed to make students feel part of a learning community and create a deeper sense of connection to the subject and each other. We want to delve deeper into how teaching, learning and assessment practices can improve wellbeing and create positive experiences.

BILT opportunities and funding for 22/23

Discussing assessment for inclusion: Slow Reading Circle with a Twist, 17th – 21st May (asynchronous)

Are you interested in collaborative reading and discussing assessment for inclusion? If so, join us online for this asynchronous reading circle with a twist. Registration closes 12pm on the 16th May.

Learning and teaching in the international classroom, Tuesday 17th May, 11.00 – 12.30 – Online via zoom.

The workshop will help you to:

  • Explore the challenges and opportunities in our learning, teaching and assessment encounters in with international students.
  • Consider lecturer and student experiences in international classrooms and how they are affected by its diversity of language and culture.
  • Share some practical strategies & resources and reflect on why certain activities are of value.

Understanding the role of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in teaching and learning, Monday 16th May, 10.00 – 11.30 – Online via Zoom, Wednesday 25th May 10.00 – 11.30 – Online via Zoom

This workshop is an opportunity to explore the importance of diversity in learning and teaching, and increase your understanding of the groups of students you teach. The session will equip you with practical knowledge and experience in using the data tools available to help you understand the identities of students in your cohorts.

Bristol Teaching Celebration, 8th June, 2 – 3.30pm.

The Bristol Teaching Celebration event is an opportunity for all associated teaching and learning staff to come together, celebrate the year’s achievements and for the University to formally thank staff for their outstanding contributions. We will also be announcing the winners of this year’s Bristol Teaching Awards.

Show, Tell and Talk – Dialogic Feedback, 15th June, 1pm – 2:30pm.

This online workshop will showcase examples of approaches to dialogic feedback and include contributions from BILT Associates – Dr Lloyd Fletcher (School of Management) and Dr Christophe Fricker (School of Modern Languages)
