Bristol Teaching Awards 2022
We are delighted to confirm that we will shortly be launching the Bristol Teaching Awards (BTAs) 2022.
Staff and students can place their nominations from 21st March – 11th April, 9am.
Find out more about this year’s Bristol Teaching Awards and start considering who you will put forward once nominations open. Please do share this information with staff and students and encourage them to nominate too.

Student Research Festival

The Bristol Institute for Learning and Teaching is now calling for submissions for the 2022 Student Research Festival (SRF). Open to all undergraduates and taught postgraduates, the SRF is a one-day digital event focused on highlighting the best of student-created research, featuring presentations, discussions, workshops, and multimedia resources. The festival is slated to take place online on the 27th of April, with the deadline for submitting your application being the 22nd of March. For more information on the different roles available and to apply to present your research at the festival, just fill in this online form.
Final call for contributions for our conference, ‘The Compassionate Conference’
Deadline Monday 14th March
There are a few days left to sign up to present at our annual conference in June, focusing on hopeful, compassionate and effective approaches to teaching. We want to showcase teaching that puts relationship building and care for others at the centre.

‘Show, Tell and Talk: Peer Feedback’, 16th March, 12 – 1pm. This seminar, with Rabeya Khatoon, Becky Selwyn and Stefania Simion, will explore research and showcase examples of how effective peer-feedback has been successfully embedded across different areas of the University.

Rescheduled event ‘Show, Tell and Talk: Teaching and assessing large groups’ now taking place 25th April, 1pm – 12pm. This seminar with Joel Ross, Alan Champneys and Annika Johnson, will showcase examples of successful teaching and assessing of large groups across different areas of the University.

Accessibility and Blended Learning Conference, 23rd March, 1 – 4pm. This afternoon conference features a keynote from Piers Wilkinson, Higher Education Policy and Partnerships Lead at Diversity and Ability; a student and staff panel on accessibility and blended learning and a workshop on inclusive assessment.

Decolonising the Curriculum Reading Group, 23rd March, 12 – 1pm. In our first collaboration with the SPAIS Decolonisation reading group, we are looking to invite students and staff from across the University to come together for an open and accessible conversation about decolonisation of education.
Decolonising Education from Theory to Praxis: Seminar three: Decolonising the curriculum, pedagogy and assessment, 30th March, 1 – 2.30pm. This online seminar will focus on efforts to decolonise the curriculum, assessment and pedagogy. Building on the theoretical insights developed in the previous seminar, it will consider what it means in practical terms to decolonise the curriculum and the implications for assessment and pedagogy.

Bristol Teaching Celebration Event, 8th June, 2pm – 3:30pm
The Bristol Teaching Celebration event is open to all staff who have taught, supported and enabled the education of our students this year. Join us, along with the Vice Chancellor and Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education) to celebrate and thank staff for their efforts this year and for the announcement of the Bristol Teaching Awards winners.
