BILT Briefing Issue 64

This week’s Briefing is short but sweet as we’ve had a busy week interviewing our new Student Fellows and (trying to…) prepare everyone as much as possible for the introduction of hybrid teaching as we start our new year.

Introduction to the year

Our Director Sarah Davies has written an introduction to the year, ‘Understanding our new normal’, highlighting BILT’s key focuses and drivers for the upcoming academic year. Read it here.

Call for mentors and assessors: HEA Fellowship Scheme

We’re looking for colleagues to participate in the CREATE HEA Fellowship Scheme as assessors and/or mentors. You will play a vital role in supporting colleagues to achieve national recognition for their skills and experience and an opportunity to share best practice with colleagues at the University of Bristol and beyond. You will be working alongside the CREATE team and will be offered full training and support. See the full details and complete the EOI form here.

Teaching in the hybrid classroom – video resources

Over the last few weeks we’ve been running workshops to help staff plan and facilitate hybrid teaching sessions which support interaction and engagement. Staff interested in finding out more can watch a series of case studies from these sessions which highlight a range of practical tips and advice from staff at Bristol and beyond.

Our final workshop in the series, taking place on Wednesday 29 Sept, 2:30pm – 4pm, provides an opportunity to find out more, ask questions and seek advice, perhaps having taught your first hybrid session. Register to attend either online or in-person.

Visit the DEO hybrid guidance pages for guidance and frequently asked questions on hybrid teaching.

NTF and CATE Awards

We are currently accepting Expressions of Interest (EOIs) for the 2022 National Teaching Fellowship (NTF) scheme and the Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence (CATE) scheme.

Full details are available on our website.

We’ll also be hosting workshops for anyone interested in applying for the NTF or CATE schemes either this year or in the future – more details, including how to sign up, are on our website.

Meet the BILT Associates

We have published four more introductions from our BILT Associates over the last fortnight. You can read them all on our ‘Meet the BILT Community’ page.
