Peter Scott

Lecturer, Faculty of Arts, Department of Music

“He has been so contactable and welcoming and he has changed my university experience for the better.”

“His conscientiousness is always apparent in everything he does for us. From the well-structured, useful and fun tutorial sessions he plans weekly to the frequent reaching out on a 1-1 basis, I have never felt under-supported in any aspects of university life thanks to Peter”

“He makes a fun space for the tutees to get to know each other as well as guiding us with our studies…”

“He has given us thorough advice on skills beyond the course including employability and there’s always useful help relating to our degree and well-being.”

We asked Peter about his background and how he felt about being shortlisted.

I’ve been teaching in universities and colleges for some time, and was also a college pastoral tutor at Durham University.

At Bristol I’ve been hugely impressed by the general level of support for both students and staff, and the pandemic has heightened this. It is a privilege to be part of this support network, and to help students find their curricular and extra-curricular voices (non-music as well as musical)!

I was absolutely thrilled to be nominated and am delighted and surprised to reach the shortlist in such august company!
