Festival of Undergraduate Research – final call for submissions
Undergraduate and Postgraduate (taught) students are invited to submit their research for the festival’s online showcase and/or the presentation. There will be prizes and commendations for the showcase and the presentations. All the details and guidance can be found on the festival submission pages:
Undergraduate Research Journal – call for abstracts
Please share with any relevant students – deadline 9am Monday 19th April
The BILT Student Research Journal is calling for abstracts from Undergraduate and Postgraduate taught students. This can be an abstract for an essay you have already written as part of your course or it can be a chance to write on a topic you’re interested in exploring. Bristol Teaching Awards 2021
Staff and students will be able to place their BTA 2021 nominations from 19th April – 4th May.
The BTAs recognise and celebrate staff who have made an outstanding contribution to teaching, the provision of support for students, and enhancing the student learning experience. The scheme also aims to provide an opportunity for reflection on our collective achievements in supporting teaching and learning in this most challenging of years.

Events
Engaged Learning Community meeting on open units – 13th April, 11am.
Engaged Learning sees students working as part of their curriculum in partnership with external community organisations on real world questions. The joint Careers Service/ BILT – Engaged Learning Community is a peer support network for academic and professional service staff working in this area to share best practice and develop useful resources.
The group’s next meeting focuses on online units and the group will be joined by Professor Alvin Birdi, Associate Pro Vice Chancellor (Education Innovation and Enhancement) and Sophie Billing, Academic Quality Manager to discuss ways to creating an Engaged Learning open unit. Interested staff are welcome to join the discussion(zoom link).

We: The stories workshops – various dates in April and May
Organised by the PDProject, the aim of these workshops is to provide students with a clearer understanding of themselves, which will take them through a journey of self discovery. The main takeaway from these workshops is for students to come away with a highly personalised approach to improving their lives + finding their path. The PDProject aims to offer an alternative approach to tackling mental health + wellbeing issues by giving students a space to explore their incredibly personalised + unique human experiences. Students can sign up to various workshops including Self Belief, Who Are You?, Mind Your Mind and Faith and Feeling.
Bristol Teaching Celebration event – 16th June, 2pm – 3:30pm
The Bristol Teaching Celebration event is for all staff who have taught, supported and enabled the education of our students this year. Join us, along with the Vice Chancellor and Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education) to celebrate and thank staff for their efforts this year and for the announcement of the Bristol Teaching Awards winners.
